Sosandar, the  online fashion business whose celebrity fans include Spice Girl Mel B and TV personalities Amanda Holden and Kelly Brook, said revenues topped £1m in a month for the first time in October.

In a trading update for the six months to September, revenues at Cheshire-based Sosandar, run by joint CEOs Ali Hall and Julie Lavington, rose 53 per cent to £2.82m.

Second quarter sales grew 84 per cent with sales more than doubling in both September and October.

The firm said acquisition funds have now been successfully deployed following the over-subscribed fundraise earlier in the year and this, combined with the up-front investment in team and product, have resulted in substantially higher growth for the autumn period.

In September the company launched a TV advertising campaign and started to trial the use of out-of-home digital media for the first time.

Sosandar said the new marketing initiatives ‘are significantly increasing brand recognition and awareness,’ and the board has taken the strategic decision to accelerate the growth of the business by investing further in TV advertising.

Ali Hall and Julie Lavington, who previously ran fashion and celebrity style magazine Look, said: “Our ability as an online retailer to employ an agile strategy resulted in us focusing our customer acquisition activity on the important Autumn months towards the end of the period and carrying into current trading.

"As expected, the accelerated investment into marketing and product is producing strong results with record months in September and October.
