Budget airline Ryanair has launched its winter schedule from Cornwall Airport Newquay. The low-cost carrier will operate four routes - to London, Dublin and Alicante and Malaga in Spain.
It has also added 2,300 extra seats across its Alicante, Malaga, and Dublin routes for Christmas week. The company said the schedule will deliver +10% traffic to and from Cornwall over the winter season.
Eddie Wilson Ryanair's chief executive, said: "I am pleased to be here today at Cornwall Airport Newquay to launch Ryanair鈥檚 Winter 2025 schedule, with four routes to Alicante, Dublin, London, and Malaga, offering a selection of both winter sun destinations as well as key city connections. "
Cornwall Airport's managing director, Amy Smith, said Ryanair鈥檚 commitment to Cornwall Airport Newquay was "fantastic news" for the region.
"The extra capacity of 2,300 additional seats over Christmas - strengthens our year-round connectivity, supports local jobs and inbound tourism, and builds momentum in the seasons ahead," she said.
Mr Wilson said Ryanair wanted to continue to deliver traffic and tourism growth at Newquay, but the 海角视频 market "must become competitive".
He called on chancellor Rachel Reeves to "stop talking about growth and start delivering" by abolishing air passenger duty (ADP) taxes.
"In countries all over Europe, like Sweden, Hungary, Albania, and Regional Italy, governments are abolishing aviation taxes and are being rewarded with rapid traffic, tourism, and jobs growth," said.
"This is the model that Rachel Reeves should copy. She has failed to deliver any growth in the first 12 months of the new Labour Government, but she can reverse this failure, by scrapping APD to make 海角视频 air travel competitive once more, particularly for the 海角视频 regions like Cornwall."
In June, Ryanair warned that disruptive passengers would be removed from planes and fined a "minimum" 拢500.
The carrier said at the time it hoped the new policy would 鈥渁ct as a deterrent to eliminate this unacceptable behaviour鈥.
