Turnover surged to almost £50m at a Lancashire company which supplies bottled sauces under the Nando's, Pizza Express and Gourmet Burger Kitchen brands, during its latest financial year.

All About Food, which is headquartered in Skelmersdale, has posted a turnover of £48.6m for the 12 months to February 29, 2020, up from £39.4m.

Newly filed documents with Companies House have also revealed that its pre-tax profits rose from £3.5m to £5m over the same period.

A statement signed off by the board said: "The challenging retail and wholesale environment, in which consumers have little or falling income available for discretionary spend, continues to be the backdrop under which the company operates, however those factors have been suppressed in the last 12 months by the Covid-19 global pandemic.

"Despite this, the company continues to look for growth potential through the development of existing brands and working with new partners and bringing new products to market.

"Management believes that successful execution of its business plan, underpinned by the underlying financial and operating strength of the company, will result in achievement of a resilient financial performance in this challenging climate."

The company added: "The directors also take comfort from the resilience of sales volumes during the national lockdowns and the financial results achieved since year-end.
