The latest tenant for the redevelopment of Grade II-listed, former toilet block on Barry Island has been named.

Positano Italiano will join Harbour Bar & Grill and a Loungers venue at the site.

The Barry Island site will be the second venue for the Italian restaurant, the first opened in Swansea's J-Shed at the start of the year.

Positano Italiano, which is named after one of the wealthiest towns on the Amalfi coast in Italy, serves wood-fired pizzas, pasta and Italian specials. There are also Gluten-free and vegetarian options.

The planning application for the site says the existing toilet block would be retained, with repairs and extensions to make room for the new restaurants. Each restaurant would have its own terrace, with views of the sea and across Whitmore Bay, and there would be a new first-floor glass atrium on the roof. A fourth tenant for the site has not been finalised.

The toilet block was built in 1923 but has not been used for used for "a significant number of years", which has led the building to become dilapidated, according to the statement.
