Hotel giant Premier Inn has a list of seven target locations in Wales for new hotels.

The company has named where it wants to bring the brand in the coming years.

Among its target sites are tourism locations like The Mumbles near Swansea and Betws-y-Coed in Conwy.

It also wants to come to Broughton in North Wales where a developer has secured planning for a hotel, pub/restaurant and four other food units on a site close to Broughton Shopping Park. No hotel brand has been announced for the scheme.

In Mid-Wales the brand hopes to come to Newtown.

The other sites on its Wales target list in south and west Wales are Carmarthen, Milford Haven and Newport.

Derek Griffin, head of acquisitions at Premier Inn owner Whitbread, said: "Covid-19 has impacted the hospitality industry in the short-term.

"But our long-term strategy remains to grow, to be ambitious about securing the best sites in strategic locations, and to identify outstanding opportunities where we know there will be demand for our bedrooms."
