Plymouth’s independent retailers are joining a national campaign to encourage shoppers to spend £5 with a small city business.
Dozens of Plymouth businesses have already signed up to the free-to-join Fiver Fest campaign, devised and run by Totally Locally, a grass roots organisation that has been helping businesses and high streets to help themselves since 2010.
For Fiver Fest, Totally Locally is partnering with Visa, and together, they are calling on shoppers to divert £5 of their weekly spend to support the small businesses in their communities.

Fiver Fest runs from June 12 to 26 and is urging retailers and other businesses to showcase themselves with a simple £5 offer. Plymouth will be among more than 100 Independent high streets across the 海角视频 taking part in the initiative.
Steve Hughes, chief executive of the Plymouth City Centre Company, said: “Fiver Fest is now a big part of our work for our independent businesses.
“The community support for local businesses has been amazing during lockdown, so these offers are to say thank you to customers, and to highlight the great value and economic impact of shopping locally.
”We are really pleased with the take-up and it’s certainly been embraced by traders in and around Plymouth Market in the West End of the city, so we hope people will come in and take advantage of these amazing offers and see just how good these local businesses are.”
Businesses from across the city centre and waterfront have already signed up to the campaign and their special offers can be found on the Shop4Plymouth website .

And there is still time for independent businesses to join in. The Shop4Plymouth website and social media channels are part of the #GeddonPlymouth marketing campaign, set up by the
Plymouth City Centre Company in partnership with Plymouth City Council and the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership to support businesses through the Covid crisis.
Fiver Fest is based around the now famous Totally Locally £5 message: “If every adult in Plymouth spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and businesses, it would mean more than £50m per year going directly into our local economy which can lead to more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy and a nicer place to live. Makes you think doesn’t it?”
Fiver Fest has been running successfully in individual towns in the 海角视频 and abroad during the past seven years, and in October 2020, 130 towns joined together to make one huge Fiver Fest across the 海角视频 - from the North of Scotland to the South of England.
Fiver Fest offers have been imaginative and varied; from £5 massages, £5 locally sourced meat packs, £5 best-selling book offers or £5 lunch deals. A list of Plymouth businesses taking part in the campaign can be found .
