Holiday park operator Parkdean Resorts is to serve up a significant boost for tourism in Yorkshire and the Humber through a £5m investment in the region’s resorts.

Last week the company unveiled plans for a £70m nationwide investment across its 67 º£½ÇÊÓƵ sites – including the creation of the three more ‘parks of the future’ designed to transform selected resorts into next level holiday spots.

The firm has now revealed that its Cayton Bay holiday park near Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and its other parks in the region will receive the multimillion-pound investment ahead of the 2021 season.

Cayton Bay has received a £4.3m cash injection, and will be given a major makeover as one of Parkdean’s seven ‘Parks of the Future’, while a further £700,000 has been invested across three other parks.

For the 2021 season, the new revamped Cayton Bay will feature everything from new luxury accommodation options to activities for the whole family, with five new luxury lodges and two new caravans, as well as innovative Connected Caravans, using smart technology and pushing sustainability boundaries for the sector.

New activities at the park include a dog agility course, an outdoor sports court and a pirate-themed crazy golf course, as well as a base camp, bringing Bear Grylls Survival Academy and Outdoor ‘n’ Explore to Yorkshire.

Also new is a high ropes course as well as Laser Quest, and a new arts and crafts den for children. The new sports dome at the park offers a wide range of activities catering to all ages, while the virtual reality area provides the ultimate interactive experience.

There’s also a new adventure playground, as well as hover boards, bungee trampolines, and a new indoor heated swimming pool.
