Parfetts and GoLocal owner creates almost 100 jobs as sales jump by more than £90m

Almost 100 jobs were created by an employee-owned cash and carry and convenience store giant during its latest financial year as its sales surged by more than £90m.

A G Parfett & Sons, which is behind the Parfetts Cash & Carry, GoLocal and Gold brands, has reported a turnover of £569.9m for the 12 months to June 30, 2021, up from the £478m it achieved in the prior year.

The group's pre-tax profits also increased from £11.6m to £14.5m over the same time.

According to newly-filed documents with Companies House, the group's employees increased from 683 to 778 during the year.

A G Parfett & Sons was founded in 1980 in Stockport. Parfetts Cash & Carry has branches in Stockport, Halifax, Somercotes, Sheffield and two Merseyside depots in Aintree and Anfield.

The GoLocal brand has stores across North West Midlands and South Yorkshire.

A statement signed off by the board said: "We are delighted with the results for the year ended June 2021 in what has continued to be a particularly challenging period, as we have experienced increased customer demand while working hard to manage supply chain shortages due to Covid as well as ensuring we had sufficient staff levels to maintain customer service levels.
