The opening date of a new Sutton Coldfield restaurant has been announced.

Gusto Restaurant and Bar at Mere Green鈥檚 Mulberry Walk development will welcome customers for the first time on Thursday, November 30.

The Italian 鈥榗asual dining鈥 chain is opening its second restaurant in Birmingham, joining its outlet in Colmore Row in the city centre.

More than 拢1 million has been spent on the Sutton restaurant with the restaurant recruiting 60 staff.

The 156-cover restaurant will occupy a 4,000 square foot plot and will officially open at 12noon on the final day of the month.

Among the dishes on the menu are pasta and risotto offerings, including classic spaghetti carbonara and Bolognese as well as the more unusual duck and sweet onion garganelli, lobster or beetroot risotto.

Gusto has meat and cheese deli boards, breads and nibbles including chill salt edamame beans and Gusto dough petals. A broad selection of starters including hand-rolled meatballs in a tomato sauce, crispy calamari and orange and honey glazed pork belly.

As well as pasta, the eatery sells pizza, 28-day aged premium steaks with garlic butter, roasted vine tomatoes and fries, hearty mains including seafood such as whole salt baked sea bass infused with lemon and Italian herbs, and baked fillet of salmon. It also has meat dishes such as lamb cacciatore 鈥 in red wine and herbs, served with charred sweet potato.

The venue also has an extensive wine menu, as well as a 鈥榤ake your own pizza鈥 children鈥檚 menu.

Work is now well underway at Mulberry Walk, which will see the building, transformed, complete with an outside terrace to seat up to 40 people.
