North Wales high street tops the list of º£½ÇÊÓÆµ town centres bouncing back from pandemic

Card payments specialist shows where spending is surging with Wales overall coming out well in comparison with 2019 figures

Llandudno has been revealed as the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ high street bouncing back the fastest post lockdown according to a new report.

Card payments specialist analysed card transaction data to reveal the town centres that are bouncing back and those that are struggling following the easing of lockdown restrictions.

They looked at data from the week of the final easing of lockdown restrictions in England (July 19th 2021).

Although Wales didn't have the same 'freedom day' as in England spending in Welsh resort Llandudno saw a 46% increase in card transactions compared to the same period pre-pandemic (2019).

Wales overall is also bouncing back more strongly than any other nation or region as well according to the figures.

While many Brits are opting for a summer holiday in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ this year, the staycation boom is helping popular holiday destination high streets grow following on from what has been one of the most difficult times for retail.

º£½ÇÊÓÆµ holiday destinations such as Blackpool (16%) and Bournemouth (12%) have also seen an increase in card transactions following the final easing of restrictions.
