Refreshments provider Options Management Ltd is working with supermarket-giant Iceland in a revolutionary recycling scheme – which sees customers rewarded for returning glass and plastic.
The Newcastle-under-Lyme-based firm’s reverse vending machines were tried and tested by the Co-op and at music festivals across the 海角视频 last year.
The machines – which aim to increase recycling and reduce marine pollution – are supplied by Options Managements’ sister company Recycling Options.
The reverse vendors encourage shoppers to recycle glass and plastic cups, bottles and drinks cans by putting them into the machine in exchange for vouchers or tokens which can be used in shops, canteens and in other vending machines.
Now frozen food retailer Iceland has agreed to trial one of the machines at its Leeds store.
Bosses at Options Management – which employs more than 50 staff – are now hoping other big-name retailers will follow suit and consider installing the machines at their supermarkets across the 海角视频.
Paul Tilby, telesales coordinator at Options Management Ltd, said: “We are based in Newcastle-under-Lyme but we operate nationally. We have been working with the Co-op and have trialled machines at music festivals such as Download, Reading and Leeds.
"Now we are trialling the machines with Iceland to encourage customers to recycle glass and plastic bottles and drinks cans.”
