A mum whose family has been touched by breast cancer and who is set to have a double mastectomy has opened a new business with the aim of boosting body positivity.

Mum-of-one Rebecca Barton, 32, launched Sculpted Beauty, in Borough Street, Castle Donington, on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border, earlier this year. It offers services including cryolipolysis – commonly referred to as a ‘fat freezing’.

Rebecca, who advocates a healthy lifestyle alongside the treatment, said: “Women should feel good about their bodies. Everyone should enjoy body positivity.”

Rebecca recently discovered she carries the BRCA1 breast cancer gene. After finding a lump in her breast, which removal showed to be benign, she underwent testing for the gene.

Rebecca's mum had been diagnosed with it in 2018 but Rebecca was pregnant with her son Kayden at the time and admits that guilt and fear had kept her from taking the test.

Now, with the gene confirmed, Rebecca said that she will undergo a double mastectomy and reconstruction but still wanted to stress the importance of looking after yourself and feeling good about your own body.

She has been supported along the way by five-year-old Kayden and husband Ashley.

Rebecca set up her business after trying the cryolipolysis treatment herself – which exposes fat cells to extreme cold that crystallises and “kills off” the fat – following research to “shift her stubborn mummy tum pouch”. The treatment is seen as a cheap alternative to liposuction, and results can vary from person to person.
