The acquisition of baked potato restaurant chain Spudulike by Albert Bartlett has seen more than 75 former staff re-employed, the potato giant has said.

Albert Bartlett revived the chain after it closed all its 37 branches in August after collapsing into administration, which resulted in loss of about 300 jobs.

Spudulike’s former operations director Jonathan Hoodless is among employees re-joining Spudulike after they were made redundant by the previous owners.

Albert Bartlett also said it is planning to create up to eight new jobs in areas such as customer service and administration.

The company confirmed it purchased the Spudulike brand for “selected top-performing” sites across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ for an undisclosed sum.

Sites have reopened in eight shopping centre locations in Manchester, Leeds, York, Livingstone, Kent, Norwich, Glasgow and Bridgend.

Richard Quinn, Albert Bartlett’s managing director - portfolio, said: “As brand custodians we have the opportunity to revive an iconic British brand, which is a perfect fit within our business: it helps us communicate directly to consumers and champion this timeless, classic comfort food.”
