The Manchester restaurant that has been used by Channel 4 for its First Dates TV show is set to close.

The Refinery in the Spinningfields area of the city centre will shut after its parent company Drake & Morgan secured approval for its proposed Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).

The CVA will see three of its 22 sites close, including one of only two venues in Manchester city centre.

The Refinery's sister site The Anthologist, at St Peter's Square, is unaffected,

In total, 90% of creditors voted in favour of the CVA at a meeting last week - the arrangement will also see two venues in London close.

The business has said that all team members in the affected sites will be offered alternative roles within the business, preserving jobs.
