º£½ÇÊÓÆµ doughnut maker Project D expanding deliveries to cover whole of England and Wales

Derby business has expanded into a big new bakery and taken on another 100 staff

A luxury doughnut manufacturer which recently took on 100 more staff is about to start selling its products across England and Wales.

Until now Project D, in Derby, was selling its handcrafted products across central England, as far as Leeds and Birmingham.

Now it is launching a postal delivery service to supply even further afield.

Management said Its extravagant doughnuts, including an Easter-themed “Dream Egg” and “Break Time Bunny”, had proved so popular that it has prompted the brand to devise a way of expand its reach.

Doughnuts will be delivered in corrugated cardboard boxes with six individual sections to ensure they stay in perfect condition, posted with DPD’s next day service to ensure they arrive promptly.

As part of its expansion plans the business moved into a new bakery in Spondon at the end of 2020, which is 11 times bigger than its previous home.

The expansion means it now has the capacity to operate 24 hours a day, extend the home delivery routes, and bring in another 100 members of staff.

Prior to that the business had grown to just over 50.
