Leicester Tigers takes dramatic move to speed up its bar & food services

Premiership league club said the move would make life easier for supporters using its food kiosks and bars

Leicester Tigers is making its stadium a cashless ground.

The Premiership league club said the move would make life easier for supporters using its food kiosks and bars.

The club said fans regularly moan about long waits in its queues, particularly at half-time.

It is the latest in a number of big national venues that have introduced card and contactless-only payments for food and refreshments, hoping it will lead to more efficient service and quicker queuing times.

The new £1 billion Tottenham Hotspur stadium was the first completely cashless football stadium to open in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ a few months ago.

Payment at its 60 food and drink outlets is now made by contactless or mobile phone, or by chip and PIN for transactions above £30.

No cash is accepted for any purchase made within that stadium and its surrounding campus, including the Tottenham Experience.

Leave your cash at home

The RFU has also made its entire Twickenham complex cashless. Only seven years ago, Twickenham had some 400 tills with only 20 per cent equipped for ‘chip and pin’ payments.
