John Roe’s Grimsby showroom team has received its coveted award from Toyota Great Britain president Agustin Martin.

The dealership outperformed thousands of others across Europe for sales performance and customer experience, with recognition for going above and beyond in areas of sustainability, mobility services and community service.

It earned the third generation family business the The Ichiban Award – translated as number one - prompting a double celebration as the 50 year milestone was passed during the pandemic, with the accolade revealed in March.

In honour of the family members – John Roe and his son Paul – who founded and ran the business in its early years, Louth’s Brackenborough Hotel bar became Roey’s Round Bar for one night only.

Managing director, Tom Roe, said: “It was a tremendous evening of celebration for all concerned. We are happy that our many years of dedication and service to the Toyota brand and to our loyal customers have been noticed in the Ichiban Awards. I’m very proud of my whole team, who will continue to work hard to improve standards and bring the best of Toyota to our region and beyond.”

He described it as a fitting way to mark the company’s half century.

Fundraising for the local community was a key theme throughout the evening celebrations, with guests raising £2,264.90 to support Humberston Hydrotherapy Pool.
