A Gloucestershire appliance distributor that has been operating for more than 30 years has fallen into administration.

John Gillman & Sons (Electrical), trading as Domestic Appliance Distributors (DAD), has appointed Mike Denny and Michael Magnay of Alvarez & Marsal as joint administrators.

A total of 30 staff were made redundant following the company's collapse.

It is understood the administration was triggered as the business has been loss making, resulting in a funding requirement which it was unable to meet. DAD is continuing to trade while the administrators explore options, including a full or partial sale.

In a statement, the administrators said: "The administrators are continuing to trade the business while exploring options and invite any interested parties to please get in touch.

"Regrettably, 30 of the company’s 78 employees were made redundant immediately upon the company entering administration. The administrators are supporting these employees through the process."

Tewkesbury-based DAD was founded in 1992 and supplies electrical products to the independent retail, housebuilding, social housing and student accommodation sectors.

It is one of the largest distributors of domestic appliances in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, delivering more than 55,000 products each month, and with annual revenue of around £48m.
