Peter Bacon rounds-up the coming week of jazz events in the West Midlands.

Reggae stars Soothsayers

It’s another busy jazz week with lots of very exciting homegrown music plus some visitors from elsewhere in the land. Plus there’s a supergroup grand finale.

First up there is a three-way Thursday choice.

The main band in the revamped Beat City offering at , is co-led by two saxophonists, Bedfordshire-based alto player Chris Maddock and London-based tenor man Nadim Teimoori.

The Maddock/Teimoori Quintet is on at 8.30pm and will be preceded by the John Greenwood Quartet; there will be a jam session into the early hours.

The is a jazz venue again for the pianist John Law’s enthrallingly named Boink! It begins at 8pm, tickets are £8 on the door. Find out more at

Thursday is always night. This time on the stand you will find the Trevor Emeny Trio.
