Three more 海角视频 energy companies have gone bust 鈥 taking the total number in recent days to nine.

Ofgem said Igloo, Symbio and Enstroga have all ceased trading, following the massive hike in gas prices.

Igloo Energy supplies gas and electricity to around 179,000 domestic customers, Symbio supplies around 48,000 domestic customers and a small number of non-domestic customers and Enstroga supplies around 6,000 domestic customers.

Under Ofgem鈥檚 safety net, the energy supply to all affected customers will continue and credit balances will be protected.

Domestic customers will also be protected by the energy price cap when being switched to a new supplier.

It comes following the recent failures by People鈥檚 Energy, Green Supplier Ltd, Utility Point, PfP Energy, MoneyPlus Energy, and Avro Energy. Octopus Energy stepped in this week to take on Avro鈥檚 580,000 customers after what Ofgem called a 鈥渃ompetitive process鈥 to get the best deal for Avro鈥檚 clients.

Enstroga is based in Nottingham, Igloo Energy is registered in Southampton, while Symbio Energy is in Watford.

A statement on the Enstroga website said: 鈥淲e are saddened to inform you that Enstroga, your electricity and gas supplier, is ceasing trading in the United Kingdom.

鈥淥fgem, the energy regulator, is appointing a new supplier for its customers.

鈥淐ustomers need not worry, their supplies are secure and funds that domestic customers have paid into their accounts will be protected if they are in credit.

鈥淚f there is an amount due to be paid to Enstroga, we ask to make this payment to Enstroga. Your liability to pay for your bills has not changed.

鈥淥fgem鈥檚 advice is not to switch, but to wait until they appoint a new supplier for you.

鈥淭his will help make sure that the process of handing customers over to a new supplier, and honouring domestic customers鈥 credit balances, is as hassle-free as possible for customers.鈥

Symbio Energy said: 鈥淐ustomers need not worry, their supplies are secure and funds that domestic customers have paid into their accounts will be protected if they are in credit.鈥

Ofgem advised customers of the three firms to wait until a new supplier has been appointed and has made contact before looking to switch and to take a meter reading.

Ofgem said it was working closely with the Government and industry to make sure customers continued to be protected this winter.

Neil Lawrence, director of retail at Ofgem, said: 鈥淥fgem鈥檚 number one priority is to protect customers. We know this is a worrying time for many people and news of a supplier going out of business can be unsettling.

鈥淚 want to reassure customers of Enstroga, Igloo Energy and Symbio Energy that they do not need to worry. Under our safety net we鈥檒l make sure your energy supplies continue.

鈥淚f you have credit on your Enstroga, Igloo Energy or Symbio Energy account, the funds you have paid in are protected and you will not lose the money that is owed to you.

鈥淥fgem will choose a new supplier for you, and while we are doing this our advice is to wait until we appoint a new supplier and do not switch in the meantime.

鈥淵ou can rely on your energy supply as normal. We will update you when we have chosen a new supplier, who will then get in touch about your tariff.

鈥淎ny customer worried about paying their energy bill should contact their supplier to access the range of support that is available.鈥
