Iceland Foods has seen a hike in sales of frozen food since the outbreak of coronavirus and has started limiting how many anti-bacterial soaps customers can buy.

The Deeside based company with more than 900 stores around the º£½ÇÊÓƵ said frozen foods sales were "ahead of forecast" over the last 10 days - with other long life products also selling well.

It has also taken action to cap the number of anti-bacterial soaps and wipes that customers can buy to four to prevent people stockpiling.

Richard Walker, managing director, Iceland Foods: “We are monitoring Covid-19 closely.

"We have well-established contingency plans and are taking all the necessary steps to ensure that our customers continue to have the food and other supplies they need.

"We are working extremely closely with our suppliers and our supply chains remain robust overall.

"Even where there are supply challenges, we are thoroughly experienced in sourcing alternatives to help meet customer demand.

"While coronavirus has increased the demand for certain products in the short term, we are confident that any disruption will remain limited and that consumers will continue to be able to choose from a wide selection of frozen food, grocery and other products in our stores.
