Leicester’s newest hotel opens its doors to the paying public today – Monday, July 4.

The 191-room Hotel Brooklyn has been built on the city’s former Granby Halls site, in the shadow of the Tiger’s rugby club’s Welford Road stadium. Construction started in March 2020, with original planning beginning back in 2017.

It is the second in the Brooklyn chain, which launched in Manchester three years ago, inspired by the New York borough, with an “industrial aesthetic, impressive atrium, and exposed brickwork”.

Nightly rates will start from around £72 and guests can upgrade to its 'skyline suites' – which come with hot-tub terraces – or its executive suites with free-standing baths.

There are also 10 fully-accessible and six “ambulant-accessible” bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms, with matt black brassware, grab rails and shower seats.

The main hub of the hotel is called The Lair, with an open plan bar, restaurant and a flexible, social space.

The Brooklyn has a bridge linking it to the Tigers stadium for the convenience of guests and plans to use the shared space on the plaza widely for matchday visitors.

It is operated by Bespoke Hotels which recently became official hotel partner to Leicester Tigers.
