Home of the day: £895k Stoners Farmhouse in Feckenham, Worcestershire

The exposed materials speak of the long history of this listed country house in Worcestershire, writes Alison Jones

Romantics who might like to replay the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet will enjoy the master bedroom in Stoners Farmhouse – a delightful period property in Feckenham, Worcestershire.

A galleried walkway runs above it, providing a stage for the theatrically inclined and a view out over the bedroom below.

This is just one of many features of interest in the Grade II listed house. Dating back to the 17th century, it has exposed timbers, vaulted ceilings, stain glass, flagstone floors and inglenook fireplaces.

The property has been added to over the years and the current owners have left their mark having updated the house while at the same time restoring it to its original beauty.

The room that has most obviously benefitted from more modern touches is the kitchen/breakfast which has units that have been handmade and installed by bespoke kitchen maker Harvey Jones.

It has solid granite work tops, a central island and ample space for a table. There are many appliances including a free-standing oil-fired four-oven Aga and Miele integrated electric oven, induction hob, steam oven, SousChef warming drawer and tall fridge.

This room leads into a large utility room providing a cloakroom and further storage.

There are several reception rooms. The dining room is substantially beamed with exposed timbers running across the ceiling and down and along the walls. There is also a brick open fireplace with a bressumer beam above it.
