Home of the day: £1,250,000 Hall Farm in Stoke Bliss, Tenbury Wells

Exposed timber combines with modern decor to great effect in this listed farmhouse, writes Alison Jones

The Bishop of Bath and Wells was infamous in the series Blackadder for his alleged fondness for eating babies.

Hopefully the actual Bishop of Bath and Wells who owned this now Grade II listed farmhouse back in the 13th century did not share the comedic cleric’s appetite for snacking on toddlers.

Hall Farm in Stoke Bliss, Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, is a perfect rural hideaway comprising a farmhouse, cottage and farm buildings set within 14 acres of rolling pastureland.

The main property still retains many of its original features most notably some magnificent timber framing including close studding, a crossed beamed ceiling in the dining room and vaulted master bedroom with exposed cruck frame.

Later Tudor and Victorian wings have extended the property, transforming it into an impressive family home which has been the subject of an extensive restoration by the present owners.

Reception rooms include a drawing room with contemporary woodburning stove and a sitting room, both of them enjoying fine views out over the surrounding countryside.

The spacious kitchen/breakfast room is at the centre of the ground floor accommodation. Finished by Heaven and Stubbs, it has hand-built units and a combination of fine granite and oak work surfaces.

There is a range cooker with an electric induction hob and flue in place for an Aga if desired.
