Discount retailer Home Bargains is doubling the size of its flagship Swansea store.

It has agreed to take an additional 10,000 sq ft of space in what was a Poundworld unit, next to its existing store at Phoenix Retail Park in Llansamlet.

Work is now under creating a larger 20,000 sq ft store which is expected to take a month.

Home Bargains has struck the expansion deal with owners of the retail park in development and investment company Barberry Developments.

Martyn Cartwright, director of West Midlands-based Barberry, said: “We are very pleased to announce that Home Bargains has extended its existing store on Phoenix Retail Park to take an additional 10,000 sq ft.

“The company has also restructured its existing lease to provide a new 15-year term on the total of 20,000 sq ft.

"We are carrying out adaptation works to integrate the former Poundworld unit within the new letting. "
