Home Bargains is set to open a new £4.5m store in Swindon, creating 110 new jobs.
The Liverpool-headquartered discount retailer said the new store off Great Western Way, north of the town centre, would employ a workforce of 130 staff, with 20 workers transferring from other local stores.
The 40,000 sq ft store will stock homeware, health and beauty products, snacks, as well as fresh and frozen food, and will also house a café, in-store bakery, and garden centre.

The new Swindon store joins the firm’s portfolio of 575 outlets employing more than 28,500 staff across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, with the fast-growing firm currently opening 50 new shops a year, as part of expansion plans to grow to 800 stores and 35,000 staff.

Ms Garbatiuk said: “We are looking forward to opening one of the biggest Home Bargains units in the company here in Swindon. We can’t wait to show the people of Swindon our new store with a Café, Bakery and Garden Centre all at low prices, representing value for money. We are excited to say that we have managed to build a new team of 130 colleagues providing important jobs in the community at a difficult time.”
With the opening, scheduled for Saturday (August 26), Home Bargains said it would also donate £2,000 to local charity, Swindon Food Collective which supports people by re-distributing donated non-perishable food to those who have very little or no provisions.

Home Bargains has estimated that it served more that five million customers each week. The company recently posted pre-tax profits of £293.1m for the 12 months to June 30, 2022, down from £396.7m in the prior year. However its turnover, according to documents filed with Companies House, rose from £3.33bn to £3.41bn.
