One brewer which is perhaps not as well known outside the East Midlands is Navigation, on the banks of the River Trent.

But if the newly-installed managing director of the Meadow Lane company has his way, his ales could soon be enjoyed in pubs across Britain.

Stephen Boyle has already significantly invested in the brewhouse with higher quality ingredients and equipment in his quest to make improvements.

That already appears to be paying dividends with the   now having industry awards under its belt and its beers being enjoyed by Nottingham Forest fans, with the company serving at the   fanzone.

At the launch of the brewery’s rebrand, Mr Boyle, a former sales director at the Harviestoun Brewery in Scotland, said: “I think it is a fair assessment that the the beer in the past didn’t have the greatest reputation for consistency and it didn’t have the best reputation for flavour.
