A Bristol business that serves up Hawaiian-inspired street food is set to launch a new takeaway in the Wapping Wharf neighbourhood by the city’s harbourside.

Loki Poké specialises in the US state’s traditional poke (pronounced ‘poh-keh’) dish, which consists of marinated sashimi fish with rice and vegetables and is usually served in a bowl.

The business started as a pop-up delivery service during lockdown in March last year, operating from a kitchen base in St Philips.

In the coming weeks the business is set to expand into a unit at the Cargo retail hub, which is made up of converted shipping containers.

Cargo is home to over 40 independent restaurants, shops, cafes and lifestyle businesses, including record shop Longwell Records, who recently announced they will be opening a new store in one of the units.

Loki Poké will be located in Cargo 2 in the unit previously occupied by The Pickled Brisket takeaway.

Its founder Georgia Hussey, who grew up on a farm near Bristol, was inspired to start the business after working in Australia, where as well as Hawaii the cuisine is associated with the surfing lifestyle and culture.

Ms Hussey said: "I'd been living and working on Sydney's Northern Beaches, where you'd grab a poke bowl for lunch or dinner and head to the beach and watch the surf.
