Harrods stocks start-up premium vodka brand as accolades flow for use of Lincolnshire's royal crop

Edwards 1902 only launched in early 2000 - now it is listed by global retail icon

Elsham Wold Distillery's Edwards 1902 premium potato vodka has now been stocked by Harrods - 18 months on from launch.

Fledgling spirit producer Elsham Wold Distillery has had its premium vodka listed by Harrods.

Edwards 1902, launched just prior to the pandemic and produced from the potatoes grown around the rural northern Lincolnshire base, has been stocked by the global retailing icon.

And joining it on the Knightsbridge shelves is the Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur, a drink uniting the distillery with neighbouring roastery Lincoln & York.

In just 18 months since the first pour, the vodka that takes its name from the King Edward variety it uses has won five international industry awards. The latest came at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition last month. Cold Brew launched in November.

Co-founder Emma Hamilton, who brought experience of the London food and drinks industry to the distillery partnership that includes potato growers, said: “We’re absolutely over the moon to now be stocked in Harrods, one of the most iconic department stores in the world.

“It represents the very best of British produce so to receive that stamp of approval is something we are very proud of.”

To mark the additions the global retailing icon has also captured the English spirit renaissance in an article published on its website this week.

Headed it explores the link between the growing environment and the taste - furthering what has been known about wine for centuries.
