Grimsby grocery exporter Ramsden International returned to profit after a perfect storm of a year that saw Brexit impacts collide with logistics and lockdown woes.
Sales returned above the 拢40 million mark, with a 12.6 per cent uplift from 拢37.2 million to 拢41.9 million in 2022. The calendar-aligned financial year for the Adam Smith Street firm saw it achieve a near 拢1 million swing in earnings, from a loss of 拢831,484 to a 拢136,224 profit.
Chief executive Sean Ramsden MBE had told how a scramble for stock, and issues with the delivery of it with the likes of the Suez Canal blockage and increased border checks had weighed heavy on the company in 2021.

In the group strategic report accompanying the recently published results, he said: 鈥淭he business continued its focus on core sales through another challenging year that saw continued disruption from the global logistics issues. There were still product availability issues, delivery issues and increased costs, however, these were less of an impact than 2021.
鈥淲e have seen availability and logistics improve significantly in 2022 and there are further improvements expected in 2023.鈥
Staff numbers remained constant at 100 for the celebrated firm, which has opened a Belgian office to mitigate the 海角视频 leaving the EU, where 40 per cent of the business鈥 sales are generated.
A multiple Queen鈥檚 Award winner, Ramsden International was launched almost 30 years ago by the third generation entrepreneur - named in Her Majesty's penultimate New Year's Honours for servcies to the sector back in 2020. It followed the line of evolution of the town鈥檚 renowned retail family, from hardware store to grocer and then wholesaler.
Father Dudley was co-founder of the Nisa business which it works closely with. Ramsden has a repackaging facility close to the company鈥檚 central distribution centre in Scunthorpe where it sources its huge range of British brands. It is used to meet geographic legal requirements for goods and the information carried on the packaging.
