The popular television series starring judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith returns this week

The Great British Bake Off introduce line-up

The wait for the new series of the Great British Bake Off is finally over as the hit Channel 4 show returns to our screens this week.

A dozen new contestants have been announced, including the chief engineer of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s National Composites Centre (NCC), who is based in Bristol.

Giuseppe Dell’Anno, 45, will compete against Britain’s best amateur bakers in the famous white tent in a bid to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Mr Dell’Anno has worked at the NCC for eight years, most recently as its head engineer. He is also a senior manager of research and development (R&D) at packaging and equipment firm Seal Air Corporation, and was an industrial fellow at the University of Bristol until July 2021.

The NCC is based at Bristol and Bath Science Park, in Emersons Green, and is the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s world-leading composite research and development facility.

It is used by organisations when they need to make things lighter, stronger, smarter and more sustainable. In January, Colette Cohen OBE was appointed to the centre’s steering board.

The NCC uses state-of-the-art technology to help solve complex engineering challenges. It is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult and works across sectors, including aerospace, energy, defence, space, construction, infrastructure, auto, rail, marine and biomedical.

In a post on LinkedIn, the NCC wrote: “News!!! So excited to be able to announce that our very own Giuseppe Dell'Anno is a contestant on this year's Great British Bake Off . The series starts on 21st September. Ready. Steady, BAKE! #gbbo #teamGiuseppe.”
