Graffiti Spirits Group has acquired a venue a 'stone's throw away' from Manchester's King Street, close to the Northern Quarter

A Liverpool independent hospitality group has announced it will expand the brand to neighbouring Manchester, where it plans to open two new bars.

Graffiti Spirits Group (GSG) will open a new Salt Dog Slims a stone's throw from King Street in Manchester, plus a "special underground bar" in the same building that will require a secret code and be open to guests by appointment only.

It will be the second Salt Dog Slims after the Seel Street venue in Liverpool, which also has a hidden, "exclusive" speakeasy bar upstairs called 81 Ltd.

Matt Farrell, co-founder of GSG Hospitality, said: “Despite the current lockdown and recent Tier 3 restrictions in both Liverpool and Manchester, we’re determined to stay positive at GSG. We’ve been considering expansion into other northern cities for a while now and we’ve finally found a venue that is perfect for us and the concept it’ll be home to.

“Salt Dog Slims is a much-loved bar for its music, drinks and unique atmosphere and we’re looking forward to bringing it to Manchester.”

The firm is behind venues including Duke Street Food and Drink Market, Bold Street Coffee, Maluco and Santa Chupitos.

The new venture, which will open in early 2021, will see GSG expand into Manchester and the first brand to land under its hospitality umbrella is Salt Dog Slims.
