The Good Food Guide has announced its latest list of the best eateries in the South West.

The Guide by Waitrose & Partners, which is published today (September 12), celebrates top-quality restaurants across the region.

The list is compiled by combining reader feedback of venues with anonymous inspections by a team of experts.

The top-scoring restaurant in the South West is Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Port Isaac, Cornwall, which achieved a score of 10 and is number three in the Top 50.

Elizabeth Carter, Waitrose Good Food Guide Editor, said: “There is something magnificently unadulterated about Nathan Outlaw’s cooking and the modest elegance of his restaurant at the top of pretty Port Isaac.

"Here, there is neither pomp nor circumstance, there’s no swagger nor showmanship, nothing gratingly theatrical - although the view does deserve a standing ovation.

"What brings diners back time and again is the way Outlaw and his team take superlative ingredients, and handle them with respectful lightness and a touch of ingenuity to create plates of seafood in a four-course set menu that diners won’t forget.”

There were also a number of new entries to the list this year, including No 10 Restaurant & Bar in St Helier, Jersey; Betony by Matthew Tomkinson in Whiteparish, Wiltshire; The Ollerod in Beaminster, Dorset; The Methuen Arms in Corsham, Wiltshire; and Gambas in Bristol.
