Gas distribution company Cadent brings in Steve Fraser from United Utilities as new CEO

Comes as company plans 100s of job losses and paying millions for customer failings

Cadent distributes gas to homes and businesses

Gas distribution company Cadent is bringing in Steve Fraser from United Utilities as its new chief executive.

Currently chief operating officer at the north west water company, he is set to replace interim CEO Steve Hurrell in the autumn.

Mr Hurrell will return to his role as chief financial officer. He became interim CEO in February after Chris Train OBE retired.

In a statement the business said: “Steve [Fraser] brings a wealth of experience to Cadent in leading teams through change, managing and transforming infrastructure businesses.

“He will lead Cadent on the next step of its journey, to put the customer at the heart of everything it does.”

Cadent is in the middle of plans to cut hundreds of job as part of a dramatic bid to cut costs.

The business, which has , Leicester, and in nearby Coventry, wrote to almost half its staff last month offering them voluntary redundancy.

It is also cutting the number of contractors it uses and asking employees to consider more flexible retirement plans.
