Foyleside Shopping Centre sold to private investors for 拢27M

The centre is home to a range of retail giants and is 98% let

Foyleside Shopping Centre is one of the biggest retail destinations in the north west of Northern Ireland

Foyleside, one of Northern Ireland’s largest shopping centres, has been sold to a group of private investors for £27 million.

Agents Savills said the deal for the Londonderry centre has been completed after a number of months on the market. It was originally marketed at just over £34 million and is home to major retail in names such as Marks & Spencer, Dunnes, and H&M and stretches to nearly 350,000 square feet, with 98% of the scheme let.

It was put up for sale alongside Belfast’s Forestside Shopping Centre in May by owners Kildare Partners, an investment firm founded by the former owner of Sunderland Football Club Ellis Short.

Donall McCann, speaking on behalf of the new group of owners of Foyleside, said it is a prize asset.

“Foyleside has provided the premier retail offering to the people of Derry and surrounding areas for over 30 years,” he said. “As investors and asset managers we have a firm belief in the importance of physical retail and are excited at the opportunity to work with existing and new occupiers to further enhance the offering at Foyleside.

“As a locally-based group of investors, we are delighted to add the centre to our portfolio and look forward to shaping its future. It is a testament to all of those involved back in the early 1990s who helped to deliver to the North West region what is still recognised today as one of Northern Ireland leading centres - under our stewardship we intend to continue that legacy.”
