Fourth generation chair appointed at farm machinery specialist Peacock and Binnington

Nicholas Peacock follows his father Michael in 129th year of operations

Agricultural machinery specialist Peacock and Binnington has a new chair.

Fourth generation Nicholas Peacock has taken on the role from his father, Michael, who becomes life president of the £65 million turnover North Lincolnshire-headquartered business.

Nicholas, a practising barrister, said he will be involved in the strategic direction of the six-branch regional operation, working with managing director Graham Main and the board, “more than the day-to-day tactics”.

Stating he was proud of the past and excited by the future at the firm, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2019, he said: “P&B is in my DNA. I have been a director since 1992 and became vice-chairman in 2013. I have chaired board meetings since 2019. I have been involved with discussions about P&B with my father for all of my adult life and spent many summers in my youth delivering spare parts around local farms.

“I am committed to our company values and intend to keep those at the heart of what we do going forward. As the fourth generation of Peacocks in P&B, I stand on the shoulders of giants.”

Peacock and Binnington operates from The Old Foundry in Brigg, with further branches in Kirby Misperton, Selby and Halsham in Yorkshire, with Corringham and Louth in Lincolnshire.

Michael joined the firm co-founded by his grandfather in 1957, taking over from his father as managing director in 1968. He became chairman some years later, with Derek Blow and then - since 2010 - Mr Main in the MD role.
