A former secretary of state has joined the board of Cheadle-based online holidays company On the Beach Group.

Justine Greening has joined as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Ms Greening was the Conservative MP for Putney, Roehampton & Southfields from 2005 to 2019 and spent eight years as a minister.

Her six years in the cabinet saw her hold the briefs for education, international development and transport.

She was also minister for women and equalities as well as economic secretary to Treasury.

After leaving Government in 2018, Ms Greening founded the Social Mobility Pledge campaign in that year to drive grass roots change through business and higher education.

Ms Greening said: "I am excited to be joining the board of On the Beach at a time when the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's vaccine rollout continues apace, and consumers can look forward to the prospect of going on holiday again.
