Footasylum has outlined plans to open new stores across the country and expand some of its current sites.

The Rochdale-headquartered retailer said its plans are "being driven by the continuing strength of its branded streetwear offering, and in particular by a notable increase in demand for womenswear".

The first new store is expected to open in Watford in the third quarter of this year.

The 60,000 sq ft shop will be based in the Harlequin shopping centre and will bring Footasylum’s total number of stores to 60.

The company said that other store openings will be announced "in due course", and include plans for a "high-profile site" in Central London.

Footasylum is also planning to expand a number of its existing sites including Westfield Stratford City, Leeds White Rose and Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex.

The business said that when completed "all of these stores will be significantly bigger in size and will provide a comprehensive men's, junior and womenswear offering".
