Carpet and laminate seller Flooring Superstore has launched its 50th º£½ÇÊÓƵ store. The County Durham-based retailer has opened its latest outlet in Hove on the south coast.

It follows a period described as rapid expansion for the £50m turnover business, including £1m investment into six new stores this year including sites in Manchester, Hove and Harlow. A further five more shops are planned to be opened this year.

Flooring Superstore was founded 13 years ago as an online-only retailer by entrepreneur Dan Foskett, who has since grown the business into a hybrid model. He says the mix of online shopping and showroom locations mixes competitive pricing with experiential buying.

Most recent accounts for the 300-strong group show it generated £49.3m turnover in 2025 with the bosses saying it reached £50m this year. Operating profit for 2024 was £1.1m and pre-tax profit was £619,000.

Each of the new showrooms has been created to Flooring Superstore's format which includes free samples and specialist in store support to provide a high-quality interactive shopping experience for homeowners and trade professionals alike.

The business has over 5,000 flooring options to choose from with industry-leading finance options available, across carpet, vinyl, wood flooring and artificial grass. It has also invested in developing its own ranges, including EvoCore – a new type of waterproof flooring catering to the growing consumer demand for aesthetic but practical flooring solutions, at an affordable price.

Dan Foskett, founder of Flooring Superstore, said: "This milestone represents the strength of our business model and the confidence our customers have in our brand. What started as an online-only operation has become a scalable, nationwide business built around customer needs.

"By combining our digital strengths with tangible retail experiences, and developing exclusive brands, we’re offering stylish, practical flooring with substance - and building long-term market differentiation. Our focus remains on delivering quality products, providing expert advice and a seamless customer experience."

In March Flooring Superstore invested £200,000 in the opening of a new Bishop Auckland site, not far from its headquarters. With a 3,600 sqft unit at the town's Abraham Retail Park is joined other brands such as Popeyes, Home Bargains and Pure Gym. The group's other North East sites include Middlesbrough, Blaydon and Birtley.
