The first Leicester Restaurant Week will take place next month in support of the city’s beleaguered hospitality sector.

BID Leicester is hosting the event from October 18 to 24, to shine a light on some of the best restaurants in the city – and give diners the opportunity to try somewhere new or head back to their favourite dining spot.

It comes as news figures from the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership suggest the city and counties hospitality and tourism sector contracted by a quarter since the start of the pandemic – the equivalent of £310 million in revenues.

Highlights of Leicester Restaurant Week will include £10 fixed price menus and half term family menus and some of places taking part include Orton’s Brasserie, Giggling Squid, Knight and Garter, Kayal, Herb, and The Globe, with more to be announced.

BID Leicester director Simon Jenner said they were keen to recognise and celebrate the sector.

He said: “We have seen first-hand the effect that the pandemic had on our city, specifically within hospitality. Leicester Restaurant Week has been something we as a BID team have wanted to run with for some time, particularly after seeing the hugely positive impact Restaurant Weeks have had (and continue to have) in other cities throughout the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

“It’s an opportunity to shine the spotlight on all the amazing eateries in the city, as well as encouraging both locals and visitors alike to come into Leicester and celebrate its amazing foodie scene.

"With all the various offers set to be available, you could dine out every night of the week for less than £100.”
