A company which operates a discount scheme for emergency workers has moved into a new head office.

Leicestershire-based Blue Light Card has relocated to a 21,000 sq ft office in the village of Cossington, half way between Leicester and its old home in Loughborough.

The move was needed after the business saw its workforce jump from 36 in April last year to its current figure of 94, after its membership numbers soared.

Blue Light Card – which has taken on around 60 new staff over the last year – runs a discount service for the emergency services, NHS, social care sector and the armed forces, which gives them access to special rates at 15,000 retail partners.

It was founded in 2008, and has more than 2 million members who get discounts online and on the high street, with offers available on restaurants, fashion, tech and days out.

Companies it works with include Boohoo, Domino’s and Dunelm. Eligible members pay £4.99 for a membership card which is valid for two years.

The new open-plan office site has 86 parking spaces, high ceilings, twisting staircases and industrial-style décor.

It also includes kitchen and break out areas for staff, meeting rooms, and a fully equipped gym along with a games area providing opportunities for staff to come together to socialise.
