North Wales butcher Edwards of Conwy is expanding its range in Tesco stores with the launch of new chicken burgers and chipolatas.

The new listings make Tesco the first supermarket to stock chicken products from the Conwy firm, which has been supplying Tesco stores in Wales for the past 15 years.

From this month Edwards’ chicken quarter pounders and peri-peri burgers will be stocked in 75 Tesco stores across Wales and the North West of England, while its 10-packs of chicken chipolatas will be sold in 50 Tesco stores.

The new listings come as the North Wales butchery business has been playing a vital role in keeping food on the shelves for Welsh consumers amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

To support the demand from more families eating at home Edwards has increased its deliveries to Tesco stores by 60% in recent weeks to help keep the nation fed.

“This is a new and exciting range for Edwards,” said managing director, Simon James.

“Now more than ever customers are looking to reduce their intake of red meat and our new range of chicken products offer a tasty high protein/lower fat alternative without having to miss out on the benefits of including meat as an essential part of a healthy diet.

"We have been fortunate enough to source all our chicken from within Wales and as a Welsh company it is vital that we support Welsh farmers, especially during this uncertain time.
