Services on the Midlands Mainline are set to get back to near pre-lockdown levels in September after months of reduced timetables.

Pretty much all services between Sheffield, the Midlands and London St Pancras will be back to normal from Monday, September 7.

In all, East Midlands Railway (EMR) is bringing back 97 per cent of its pre-Covid timetable, partly to co-incide with the reopening of more businesses and schools.

The rail company provides links between the capital and destinations such as Market Harborough, Leicester, Loughborough, Derby, Nottingham and Lincoln.

An updated intercity timetable includes the full reintroduction of services between Corby and London, providing an additional 33 trains per day between the East Midlands and London.

Alongside the increase in services, EMR will also reintroduce a limited at-seat catering service for First Class customers on weekdays.

That includes a breakfast offering until 11am and then an all-day service through to the last train of the day.

The First Class catering will be complementary and has been redesigned to limit contact between customers and our staff.
