Devon winery launches new wines for Aldi

Two new tipples will be on offer at the shop chain

Lyme Bay Winery

A Devon winery has stepped up its portfolio of wines that it makes for supermarket giant Aldi.

Lyme Bay Winery, the flavour brand of LBW Drinks has created Lyme Block Dry White and Lyme Block Rosé to join the shop's ‘Specially Selected’ range.

The two wines are the latest additions to the Lyme Block range of English wines that the Devon-based producer makes for Aldi. They follow on from the success of the Lyme Block English Wine, Lyme Block Bacchus and the Lyme Block Sparkling Brut Reserve which all launched last year. The sparkling was the first own label English Sparkling Wine to be recognised as part of Aldi’s premium offer.

The Lyme Block Dry White is a crisp and zesty white with well-balanced acidity offering notes of refreshing lemon, grapefruit and nettle, coupled with a subtle floral finish. It is based around England’s signature grape, the Bacchus and balanced with Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Reichensteiner and Chardonnay.

The Lyme Block Rosé is a balanced, complex off-dry rosé with crisp acidity which layers intense aromas of cherries, rosehip and strawberry. Expertly blended Pinot Noir and Dornfelder English grapes form a delicious mouth-wateringly long finish and is the perfect wine to toast the English summer.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi º£½ÇÊÓƵ, said: “ Given the success of our three English additions to Aldi’s wine range last year, it’s a pleasure to be working with Lyme Bay Winery once again to showcase our continued support of British produce across all ranges. Adding two more wines to our shelves is testament to the success of the wines to date, and to the increasing appetite for English wines.”

The wines are made at Lyme Bay Winery in the rolling hills of south Devon, with the stunning Jurassic coastline nearby. Consistently producing delicious, award-winning, internationally recognised wines, the winemaking team source the best grapes from the best growers across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, all helping to put English winemaking on the map.

James Lambert, managing director at LBW Drinks added:  “We are delighted at the success of these wines and to be continuing to expand our range with Aldi, a brand renowned for offering value and excellence when it comes to wine. To be bringing English wine – particularly still styles - to a greater number of people is a real privilege for us.”
