Boohoo is understood to have bought a former car dealership in Leicester with plans to turn it into a state-of-the-art clothes factory.
It is understood the Manchester fashion chain has bought a former Vauxhall garage, in Thurmaston Lane, in an industrial area on Leicester’s outer ring-road.
The 2 acre site former Marshall’s car dealership was on the market for around £3 million, and was sold about a month ago.

Brochure details from the site’s selling agent Andrew and Ashwell say the former showroom dates back to 1992 and has potential alternative uses.
The site is around three miles north of Leicester city centre and the building covers around 27,000 sq ft.
According to the Sunday Times the fast fashion group plans to convert the site into a state-of-the-art automated factory.
About 40 per cent of the company's products are made in the city, which was a historic centre of the textiles trade.
Boohoo has been invited to comment on any plans it has.

The Sunday Times article alleged that workers in a Leicester factory making clothes destined for Boohoo were being paid as little as £3.50 an hour.

The retailer, which had seen its share price more than double since lockdown began, said it will end relationships with any supplier it finds to have broken its code of conduct.
In a statement earlier this month, Boohoo management said: “As a board, we are shocked and appalled by the recent allegations that have been made and we are committed to doing everything in our power to rebuild the reputation of the textile manufacturing industry in Leicester.
“We want to ensure that the actions of a few do not continue to undermine the excellent work of many suppliers in the area, who succeed in providing good jobs and good working conditions.
“We take extremely seriously all allegations of malpractice, poor working conditions, and underpayment of workers.
“The group will not tolerate any incidence of non-compliance with its code of conduct or any mistreatment of workers, and will not hesitate to terminate relationships with any supplier who does not comply.”
