A company that works with Fortnum and Mason and Harrods has helped turn a Carnaby Street shop unit into a global flagship store for the Rolling Stones.
Leicester鈥檚 Clements Create played a key role in the fit-out - including ensuring the Bowers & Wilkins speaker system was up to the mark for one of the world鈥檚 biggest rock bands.
The 鈥淩S No. 9 Carnaby鈥 store has been opened by Universal Music Group鈥檚 merchandise and brand management company Bravado, stocking everything from Stones鈥 inspired clothes to Baccarat glassware featuring the famous Stones tongue, chairs and scarves from The Soloist, and coats and hats from premium Swedish raincoat brand Stutterheim.
The fit-out had to follow the brand colours of red and black, and the glass floor features Stones lyrics. The fitting rooms are adorned with iconic album artwork.
The front window even features a soundwave installation 鈥 taken from the opening to the 1966 hit track 鈥楶aint It Black鈥.
Clements director Dale Page said it was great for the luxury fit-out specialist to be involved in a Rolling Stones project in Carnaby Street because of the double connection with the swinging 60s.
He said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 the perfect fit.
鈥淭he store was two years in the design and development and we were approached to be the main contractor based on similar projects we had done in the capital.
鈥淲e made the fixtures and did the shop fittings and the shop opened a couple of weeks ago to a lot of Twitter noise.
鈥淭he project couldn鈥檛 have started at a worse time, just at the beginning of March, and we had a couple of weeks where we were shut down and it was quite a challenge, but we opened on time and met all the exacting specifications.鈥
Bravado chief executive Mat Vlasic said: 鈥淩S No. 9 Carnaby is the result of years of planning and decades of building one of the world's most recognised brands.
鈥淚t creates a destination where fans can connect and immerse themselves in the music, style and spirit of one of the world's most iconic and beloved bands.鈥
Mr Page said Clements, which employs 75 people, had also been called in to make Covid protection screens to go on the tills at Harrods and is currently working on the Christmas windows for Fortnum and Masons in Piccadilly.
It is also working on a big project for Versace in Mayfair.
Clements Create scooped gold in the best window category at the 2019 POPAI 鈥 Point of Purchase Advertising Institute 鈥 Awards, for a colourful display at Fortnum and Masons promoting 150 years of Kraft Heinz.
The windows featured dozens of oversized tomatoes, bowls of soup and ketchup bottles as well as a vast slice of toast surrounded by baked beans.
