His Dark Materials costume team making scrubs for NHS

The costume department at Cardiff-baased production company Bad Wolf are making the uniforms at their homes for local hospitals

The costume department behind the hit BBC TV show His Dark Materials are making scrubs for NHS staff.

They’ve sourced the correct material and checked they’re fit for purpose and have raised over £6,000 to pay for materials.

Costume supervisor Dulcie Scott has been working with the costume designers and seamstresses from the fantasy show as they are all currently working from home.

The group have repurposed the acronym HDM, for the show His Dark Materials, to .

Several of the makers are in Cardiff, where the series was filmed. Ms Scott is in the north Cotswolds and another maker is  in Plymouth.Similar schemes are now running in London and springing up elsewhere.

"Our aim is to keep it local and to supply to the hospitals closest by," Ms Scott wrote on the for the project.

"This should make things quicker, keep costs down and ideally keep any risk of contagion to a minimum.

"We are liaising with hospital staff directly in the areas we live and taking advice from them about what they need, so that we can specifically help them.
