Craft brewery's front line tribute as fundraising beer launched

Here's to True Grit as community stars help market charitable tipple

Docks Beers has launched True Grit in tribute to front line workers, lighting up the brewery and tap room blue too. Workers also helping to market the fundraiser include Michelle Gray, staff nurse at Grimsby Hospital; Amy Carlton and Liz Braithwaite, nurses at St Andrew's Hospice; Andy Markham, Matty Harlow, Troy Brady and Ian Bright, recycling workers; Fiona Rodgers and Paul Cox, factory workers at Northcoast Seafood; Jenny Follan and Andy Langmaid, Tesco Cleethorpes workers; Andy Moore, AA Taxi driver; Arul Kulasekaram, Local New Waltham shopkeeper; Dr Rob Bain, consultant cardiologist and Mark Webster, caretaker at Queen Mary Avenue Infant and Nursery School, Cleethorpes.(Image: Docks Beers)

Grimsby’s Docks Beers has launched a new fundraising brew in tribute to the front line workers putting in the hard graft during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Health Tree Foundation will receive 10p from every pint and can sold by the King Edward Street team, who have lit the recently re-opened venue up blue as part of the launch.

True Grit features a healthcare worker in PPE, with several front line faces from the community also helping to promote it.

Kate Douglas, social media manager at Docks Beers, said: “It was brilliant to meet and photograph some of the key workers working near to our brewery, and to hear their stories. “They are the epitome of the Docks Beers ethos - hard graft.

“So many have put themselves at increased risk to help others, it’s amazing. I just wish we could mention everyone! Picking a charity was tough. There are so many deserving causes.  The Health Tree Foundation benefits many local NHS services which are used by so many across our county.  We felt this was one way we could give something back to our wider community because we all depend on healthcare at some point in our lives.

“We hope people will support us, it is a cool gift to give to friends and family who have worked hard and deserve to crack open a cold beer after a long day!”

Nurses, factory operatives, waste collection workers, retailers, a social worker, taxi driver, school caretaker and cardiologist consultant are all part of the marketing.

Donations will also be taken in the tap room for the cause, having been turned the colour of the can by Stage & Light.
