Cosy Club announces Birmingham launch date as sister venue closes

New bar and restaurant will open on the city's Brindleyplace estate next month as parent group waves goodbye to venue in Northfield

Cosy Club will open a new bar in Brindleyplace next month

A bar group has announced the launch of its latest venue in Birmingham as it confirms another will close for good.

Loungers has said its new Cosy Club will begin welcoming customers in Brindleyplace on August 11 but it has taken the decision not to re-open Allegro Lounge in Northfield.

The new bar and restaurant will join the group's other Cosy Club in Bennetts Hill which was its first venue in Birmingham when it started trading in 2015.

The venue in Brindleyplace, which has created 40 new jobs, was due to open in March but this had to be delayed because of the coronavirus lockdown.

The bar is housed in the 6,000 sq ft unit previously occupied by The Smoke Haus which closed in early 2019.

Referring to Allegro Lounge, which opened in 2018, Loungers said the site in  Northfield town centre had not performed well and "proven to be the wrong location".

The Bristol-based company is also reopening other venues from its 167-strong portfolio across the 海角视频, following the recent relaxation of coronavirus lockdown rules by the Government.
