Coronavirus: Britannia Hotels branch fires staff and kicks them out, blaming Covid-19 outbreak

The chain, recently named the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ's worst for seven years in a row, thanked staff for their services, wishing them 'every success' in finding a new job

A branch of the hotel chain named the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ's worst for seven years in a row has fired its staff and kicked them out of live-in accommodation due to fears over coronavirus.

Britannia Hotels' Aviemore Coylumbridge told workers in a blunt letter that was widely circulated on social media on Thursday that their services were "no longer required".

Staff were told the move would be with immediate effect, telling live-in workers to vacate the four-star Highland accommodation, blaming their decision on the coronavirus outbreak.

Staff were then "thanked" for their service while being wished "every success" in finding a job, .

Britannia Hotels was recently named the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ's worst chain for a seventh year running, with its branches including the Adelphi in Liverpool and Maid Marian Way in Nottingham.

The letter read: "Taking the latest Government advice, this letter is to confirm that with effect from 19th March 2020 your employment has been terminated as your services are no longer required.

"Your final payslip will include all hours worked up to and including your final day, together with any accrued holidays not already taken and one week’s pay in lieu of notice.
